"Here it is like a constant, sunny October. For the first time, a sense of relief; now I have taken possession of the Engadine, and I am in my element, it is truly miraculous, I am in tune with this nature!" In June 1883, Nietzsche wrote this to his sister Elisabeth from Sils, and it is precisely in this village that the philosopher began to develop "Thus Spoke Zarathustra," introducing one of its foundational concepts: the idea of the eternal recurrence. The past and the future; we are not this brilliant philosopher, but we can live in a nature that transports us to the past. With every step, we can breathe in harmony, tranquility, peace, perhaps understanding that we are tiny elements of this world and truly living in the moment, without thinking—or rather, it is impossible to think of anything that is not the moment itself. It is difficult to describe villages that pass through time without losing sight of... I don’t know, perhaps tradition? Or maybe a genuine way of living the present fully, without being swept away except by the immediate moment, with a smile that seems etched on the face by the breath? I don’t know; I looked at my child and read an innate tranquility on his face, a tranquility restored by the moment he was experiencing. No iPhone, no needs, just his hand in mine and his words, spontaneous chatter, as we walked back to the hotel step by step. St. Moritz, the bus that took us there after a day spent in Sils, where silence gave way to the joy of spontaneous laughter that broke the quiet and the gaze of people who, like us, were savoring the present, amidst smiles and peace. |
